Fancy a foodie tour in Australia?
The Whitsundays’ Airlie Beach Hotel now offers a special Localvore tour for foodies.
On the last Saturday of every month, the Localvore tour is dedicated to eating food grown and produced locally.
The “farm gate to plate” tour expands on the hotel’s new Localvore menu introduced earlier in 2010.
The Localvore tour visits several local farms which supply the hotel’s Capers Restaurant including the Beefalo farm in Cannon Valley.
Foodies can spend the afternoon with executive chef Tim Whitehorn and hotel manager Mark Bell to learn about local produce.
Then they dine from the Localvore menu matched with wines at Capers.
The menu features dishes like coral trout with dried mangoes, preserved lemon, lime and mandarin with honey and lime sauce.
