New, eco-chic Gakuto Villas will open for Nagano’s 2011 ski season.
The Western-style, contemporary development of 12 houses is located in Hakuba’s Wadano no Mori district.
Nestled in a valley between the Japanese North Alps, Hakuba village has ten ski centers with more than 20o runs.
Living room.
The village, only 2.5 hours from Tokyo, was home to many downhill ski events of the Nagano Winter Olympics.
Each self-catering villa will give travelers a chance to live like locals in two-bedroom homes.
Ski travelers will be minutes away from ski lifts and a stroll from neighborhood restaurants and onsens.
A fusion of Western design and Japanese detailing, the villas reflect their natural and traditional surroundings. The interiors consist of bamboo wood, Japanese cedar and other materials.
The villas will be managed by Create Asia Management (CAM) which specializes in experiences for the modern, eco-conscious traveler.
Based in Hong Kong, CAM organizes voluntourism opportunities, yoga retreats and meditation treks around Asia.
